Assigning a task to multiple people

A task can have any number of assignees — solo work, paired effort, or a small group all share the same panel.

Add or remove an assignee

  1. Open the task in the detail panel (click the row in the list view or the node on the canvas).
  2. Under Assignees, you'll see a chip for every project member.
  3. Click a chip to add that person to the task. Click again to remove them.
  4. The chip darkens when someone is included.
  5. Hit Save. Everyone with the project open sees the change live.

If you want to clear the whole list at once, hit the dashed Clear chip that appears whenever the set is non-empty.

A new task starts with no assignees by default; pick anyone from the Assignees group in the New task dialog before clicking Create.

What does multi-assignment look like in each view?

  • List view. The Assignee column shows a tinted pill per person, capped at 3 visible. If the list is longer, a +N pill at the end signals "this many more."
  • Canvas view. The task node carries the first assignee's colour (alphabetical, for stability across reloads). A small +1 / +2 badge sits on the avatar when there are extras. Hover the avatar for the exact count; the detail panel lists everyone.
  • Timeline view. Each bar shows up to 2 assignee chips, and a +N chip when the set is larger. Hover the bar for the full list in the tooltip.

"Show me only my tasks" with multi-assignment

The Show only my tasks toggle in the list view matches any task you are one of the assignees on — not just tasks where you are the sole owner.

The Highlight dropdown on the canvas works the same way: picking yourself (or anyone else) highlights every task that person is on, including ones co-owned with someone else.

Filtering by assignee

The list view's Filter by assignee dropdown matches the same way: every task where that person is in the assignee set, regardless of who else is also assigned.

Who can be assigned?

Any current member of the project. You can't assign someone who isn't a member — the picker only lists project members, and trying to add a non-member via the API returns an error.

If a teammate is removed from the project, tasks they were assigned to keep their assignment record (you'll see their colour faintly on the canvas, even though they no longer have access). To clean up, open the task and remove their chip.
